Port Moody - Fire Service for Heritage Woods - Heritage Mountain Middle School site in Anmore
On the Friday following Anmore Special Council Meeting I kept my appointment with Gaëtan Royer, City Manager of Port Moody.
We discussed the Anmore recreation user fees, relationships between Anmore and Port Moody, Anmore sewer connection, Anmore Policing, and Anmore Fire Protection.
Regarding Fire protection, Gaetan did say that the School Board had already been to speak to him about the issue.
The funny thing about this was the night before during the meeting at the Village hall the School District 43 Representative Dan Derpak made no mention of this.
I believe it may have been relevant as Michael Rosen – Anmore’s Planning Consultant presented his recommendation that following additional items within the restrictive covenant:
“Undertake a Fire Underwriters Survey to assess the capacity of the Sasamat Fire Department to provide fire protection”
(quick sidebar - who pays for this survey? Anmore residents or SD43?)
Near the conclusion of our meeting I had asked about the ability of the Port Moody Fire Trucks to gain access to the proposed Heritage Woods - Heritage Mountain Middle School site in Anmore and was encouraged to hear Port Moody had the same access concerns “getting down those narrow roads… and the traffic calming”. What I had realized was their additional concern of response time “getting up the hill”
Well, that’s it for Fire Protection concerns for now.
